Horse Racing

The sport of horse racing has been around since ancient Greek times and was even in the Greek Olympics in 648 BC. From chariot races of yesterday to full card simulcasting and in-home wagering, the sport has come a long way.

Horse racing is best known for the Triple Crown, three races restricted to three-year-olds that are contested each spring. The most well-known race in the sport is the Kentucky Derby, the first jewel of the Triple Crown, which is run on the first Saturday of May each year at Churchill Downs.

The second jewel is the Preakness Stakes, which is held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by the Belmont Stakes, the third jewel, which is run the first Saturday of June at Belmont Park.

The Breeders’ Cup is a year-end championship event held each fall. Since the first running in 1984, the Breeders’ Cup has decided most of the year-end championship honors and attracts horses from throughout the world.

While the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup are the two marquee events each year, there is plenty of other outstanding horse racing action, with more than two dozen tracks and hundreds of races offered daily.

With the advent of Advance Deposit Wagering (ADW), horseplayers and fans can watch the action from the comfort of home, wagering on their favorite tracks and accessing any track’s streaming video with the click of a mouse.

Within minutes a new fan can sign up with an ADW like USRacebook and be transported to their favorite track, from Gulfstream Park in Florida to Santa Anita Park in California without leaving the house!

The action is not limited to the U.S. There is horse racing action from Canada, Ireland, Great Britain and Dubai available. Horse racing action is available morning, noon, and night!

That is a long way from just a few decades ago when the only betting action available was going to your local racetrack and wagering on a nine-race card with no simulcast racing.

Whether it is betting on the Run for the Roses or a $5,000 maiden claiming race at Penn National, horse racing is the ultimate participation sport.

It is the only sport in the U.S. where it is perfectly legal to wager on the outcome from home. It is non-stop action from morning until night for horseplayers with any size bankroll. With plenty of free contests there are many ways to get in on the action.
